Link CarersRegularly Share a Few Hourswith a Disabled Child
Give a little time
Have you ever thought you might like to help a family in your local community? Do you have a few hours to spare on a regular basis? Would you enjoy supporting a disabled child so that they can take part in an everyday activity? If the answer to these questions is yes, perhaps you could consider becoming a Link carer or Befriender by regularly sharing a few hours of your time. It makes a big difference to the life of a disabled child and their family. If you are over 16 years old, you can do this as LINK Befriender, simply through helping the child or young person enjoy a favourite activity like swimming, or football, or by taking them to the park, or the shops. Unlike Befrienders, Link Carers offer time in their own homes on a regular basis. It doesn't always have to be overnight stays, but If you do have suitable accommodation perhaps you could be have a disabled child to stay with you for, say, a weekend each month, or during school holidays. You may be in full time work or a student; have your own your home or be living with your parents; you may be married, have a partner or be single. You could have children at home or not; be retired but still active, male or female. LINK Carers come from all backgrounds, and cultures - and they are all needed and valued. Whatever your circumstances, if you are interested in helping care for a disabled child, the Suffolk Link scheme may be the anwer. If you can offer a little of your time on a regular basis, your commitment can make a real difference. Look though the LINK web pages on the left to find out more about LINK.
