What is Fostering?Fostering is providing family care for children and young people who, for various reasons cannot live with their own families. A Foster Carer looks after a child in the Carer’s own home. However, the child’s own parents usually maintain contact with him or her and they have some responsibilities towards the child. Fostering involves making positive changes in a child’s life. Foster Carers become involved in making plans for the child. Foster Carers work together with the child’s parents and the Social Care department. There are a number of different ways you can foster with Suffolk County Council . These are:
